The project

Speed Brawl is a fast Beat ‘Em Up released in September 2018 by Double Stallion. The player must traverse a large 2D arena, defeating enemies as swiftly and stylishly as possible to beat the clock. The promotional website can be found here.

My contribution

During my time as an intern at Double Stallion, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to its development despite my late arrival on the project. Most notably, I’ve overhauled the skill tree of each character, totaling over 100 skills. I was also in charge of designing equipment (over 200 pieces) and balancing the whole thing. As the game was in its final development cycle, I had the additional challenge of making these additions varied and interesting while remaining as cheap as possible in terms of development time.

Additionally, I’ve been hard at work providing QA during my stay there, even introducing new methods to improve the workflow. I also worked on improving the control schemes and our automated system dictating the times required for medals. During some downtime, I was tasked with running playtests and analyzing the data.
